ALLTIMERS x NEW VISION ART SCHOOL //.
With a mission to serve young artists in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, the New Vision Art School was founded in 2017, by artist Lesly Pierre Paul. By providing materials and the support to express themselves, New Vision offers a space for students to explore the creative legacy of their culture and to create their own unique works of art.
The style of these paintings draws upon the voodoo tradition and the Saint-Soleil movement of Haitian painting that came about in the 1970s. Art has historically been used as a means of self-expression, empowerment, and subversion in Haiti which has long suffered from an authoritarian dictatorship, natural disaster and poverty.
This capsule collection of four boards and two t-shirts features a selection of the work of some of the students, who attend weekly classes at New Vision, and whose art has been displayed in galleries worldwide. Proceeds will go directly to the New Vision Art School, where it will go towards food, art supplies, and the purchase of the students’ art to be re-sold to collectors.
